Rave's workout for the September Dirt Stakes
Winds blew quite easy today Chris had been looking over the weather channel and it was suppose to just be easy smooth weather. Brushing the bay stallion before placing the saddle over his frame strapping up the right straps and placing the bit into his mouth and putting the reins on made Chris smile towards his athlete. GS SuperCharged, the horse that could definitely shut the critics up with his G1 winnings. Ben was entered in the Senior Superstars Series prep against some great horses. Ben went up against some of them in the past only to now face them head on straight forward.
His main two worries were Red Herring and Eternal Phantom those two were just as mean as Ben and liked to take over the track with dignity. Red Herring and Eternal Phantom were horses to be in Ben's nature of aggression then their was Gallant Knight an inspiring stallion indeed. All the horses in this race were definitely the ones to look out for. Joining him was young juvenile Eavesdropper, a newest addition to Nature Blues and was learning the training technique's very well.
Eavesdropper was up against a well known mare Indian Darling in the September dirt stakes. Some horses had to learn some way or another and go for the shot and Rave had the potential to do so. The black roan colt trotted next to Ben who was a little smaller than the 4 year old stallion. Both horses clashed walking away in different directions before both jockey's got control of them. "We are gonna make this an easy workout don't want them to get to out of control. Just take Rave out awhile and breeze him." Chris suggested to their newest jockey.
"Will do your lead boss." Sable said with a soft kick to have him come to a slow and steady gallop. GS SuperCharged was not of course happy with the situation at hand but, he made an adjustment following his jockey's lead. The horses would not race in this practice but have an easy workout so they could then use all their hard work into the race at hand. "All I know is Rave is going up against a very powerful mare, Ben here will be a scoop to what he has to deal with." Chris said before letting the horses do their jobs willingly.
Ben glided on the dirt surface taunting Rave to follow and do the same it was like a notion of fatherhood for Ben who was setting to retire next season. Rave had one advantage and that was his well known height of 17 hands tall at just his juvenile state. The black roan colt was huge and he made Ben look tiny. In a split moment Rave mocked Ben's movement and began to gallop away to the appropriate pole before they had come to a halt and started to walk the rest of the way. "Got it, watch out for the mare and let Rave do his thing." Sable said before both jockey's called it a day and guided both colts to their pastures to get rested up for the race.
